Eva Update...

Hello There!

Eva is scheduled for eye surgery TODAY at 2:45. Here's is an email update I received this morning...

Hi everyone,

Since my Dad hasn't hardly been able to get into the fields to harvest due to bad weather, I ended up going up with my Mom to Chicago yesterday when they sent Eva up to Children's Memorial. They did schedule her surgery for tomorrow as long as nothing else happens...for now they moved the surgery to tomorrow afternoon since the cornea is swelling very badly which makes it difficult for them to work. The chief ophthalmologist at Children's is actually doing the surgery-Praise God for being able to be referred to such an excellent doctor!

Today like yesterday, she doesn't have any vision in the left eye except for being able to define light and distinguish some movement. Basically anything that could be wrong with the human eye is wrong with hers. She is getting much better about having the hourly drops put into her eye though it is extremely painful. All in all she's having a great attitude & obeying!

I think Leah's been putting up some updates from at home on the blog (
www.cmmillerblog.blogspot.com) but we did want to send out e-mails thanking people for praying for her and to ask if you would continue to do so...

If you didn't know what happened, Friday afternoon, Isaac who's eight accidentally shot Eva in the eye with a BB gun less than ten feet away. Immediately after it happened Eva was pretty much unconscious/unresponsive for over 13 hours. After two emergency rooms and several doctors, they did determine that the BB did not lodge in the brain as they initially thought but instead actually bounced off, leaving a perfect imprint on the pupil. When we brought her back to the doctor Sunday morning, she had absolutely no vision in the injured eye, several things had detached in the eye, she was forming a cataract and it was rapidly swelling so they immediately wanted to send us to Chicago for further treatment. We got here at eleven last night and will be here until they send us home. Please remember Isaac in your prayers too. He and Eva are the cabooses in our family and they are best buddies-he feels terrible!

Also, I have several different posts in the making...finishing them, seems to be evading me! Anyone know what's wrong w/ my formatting? The last post is really weird...I'm going to have to experiment and see if I can fix the formatting...hmm...We're off to the park for a walk and to enjoy this beautiful weather. William was up at 5:30 a.m. (VERY unusual for him!!), Samuel was up by 6 a.m, and Madeline, around 6:45...so we've been up and at 'em! :) Happy Tuesday!

Megan,
we are praying for your family and sister right now. Such a terrible injury. I'm so glad to hear she is in capable hands with the surgeon and we pray that our Great Physician guides his hands and brings complete healing to Eva's eye. Praying comfort for Eva and peace and rest to your parents.
