Rainy Day Activity...

The kids & I baked cookies one day

Madeline thought it was pretty cool!

Enjoying the cookies...
Here's the recipe (this is for you, Micah, since it's taken me forever!!)
Justin's Chocolate Chipsters
2/3 c. br. sug (it actually calls for more sug. but I always 1/2 it...they taste great w/ less)
1 c. butter (soft)
1. t. baking soda
1 t. vanilla
1/2 t. baking powder
1/2 t. salt
2 lg. eggs
3 c. oats
1 c. whole wheat flour
2 c. mini chocolate chips (Justin likes his choc-chip cookies chippy! none of this 1-chip/bite business! so, I'm not sure how much...I'm just guessing...I just dump lots in till it looks very chocolaty~~)
1 c. rice krispies (we like to add these)
Beat all ingred. except oats, flour and chips on med speed. Then stir in oats, flour, krispies and chips. Bake at 375 till done to your liking!
**On the comments**Funny...it does make a bigger mess--definitely. But my Mom always let us cook/bake w/ her and it was such good times. I even let my kids snitch in the cookie dough. (we use fresh eggs, so it's safe :) Yes, now I realize that sometimes it's a sacrifice in the home decor/cleanliness departement. I always try to do these messy baking projects on a day when my floor is gross anyway. :) Still can't figure out why it won't let me comment on my own comments...hmm...

I now appreciate all the times my mom let us "help" her in the kitchen. The results were good, my sister and I both like to cook. But now I see what it's really like to have small children cooking with you :)

You are creating some special memories for your kids, rather than worrying about the decor. A blessing indeed.
